Medicare / MBS
Fee schedule change alert: from 1 July 2026 the standard chronic condition allied health items increased to a $74.55 schedule fee and $63.40 benefit, up from $72.65 / $61.80. The NDIS 2026-27 schedule, the Queensland, Victoria and South Australia workers comp schedules, and DVA fees all changed on 1 July too (see below).
Current chronic condition management rebates (individual service, minimum 20 minutes):
Podiatry, item 10962: rebate $63.40.
Physiotherapy, item 10960: rebate $63.40.
Exercise physiology, item 10953: rebate $63.40.
Chiropractic, item 10964: rebate $63.40.
Each item lists a schedule fee of $74.55, with the Medicare benefit at 85 percent, which is $63.40.
Exercise physiology group services: item 81110, the initial individual assessment for group services, now lists a $95.65 schedule fee and an $81.35 benefit.
The July 2026 MBS files took effect 1 July 2026, and the 2.6% indexation flowed through to the standard chronic condition allied health items. The item pages for podiatry 10962, physiotherapy 10960, exercise physiology 10953 and chiropractic 10964 now show a $74.55 schedule fee and $63.40 benefit, with the schedule fee updated 1 July 2026, up from $72.65 / $61.80. That is a $1.60 rebate increase per service, so update your Medicare templates to $63.40. The group services assessment item 81110 also moved, to a $95.65 fee and $81.35 benefit.
Services Australia
The chronic condition allied health billing rules page is the current reference for claiming CDM and group allied health items. No fee increase or new allied health rebate applies at this time.
DVA
DVA fees changed on 1 July 2026, but the published files are lagging. The dental and allied health fee schedule page, last updated 3 July 2026, says the 1 July 2026 software vendor file will be published as soon as possible, and that the payment system already holds the updated fees, so Webclaim claims are being paid at the new rate. For now, treat the Webclaim or payment-system rate as the source of truth, and update your static clinic fee sheets once the software vendor file appears. Watch list: DVA has also flagged a $5,000 annual monetary limit for Veteran Card holders' allied health services from 1 July 2027, applying across podiatry, physiotherapy and exercise physiology.
NDIS
The NDIA released its 2026-27 Annual Pricing Review and a new NDIS pricing schedule, effective 1 July 2026. It is framed as guidance you can use to inform your prices, not a hard price limit, and any change to an existing service agreement must be agreed with the participant first. Headline national direct-service therapy rates in the new schedule: exercise physiology $161.99 per hour, physiotherapy $183.99, and podiatry $188.99, with higher remote and very remote rates. Confirm the figure for your specific support items against the schedule.
WorkCover / WorkSafe, state by state
QLD: Changed. WorkCover Queensland published new allied health tables (podiatry, physiotherapy, exercise physiology) effective 1 July 2026 for 2026-27, replacing the 1 August 2025 tables.
NSW: SIRA's orders are effective 1 February 2026, indexed up to 4.57%, covering physiotherapy and accredited exercise physiology. Podiatry remains insurer/approval dependent.
VIC: Changed. WorkSafe Victoria 2026 fees took effect 1 July 2026. Examples, exclusive of GST: physiotherapy initial $142.59 and standard $71.28; exercise physiology $131.12 and $72.64; podiatry $101.98 and $71.28, with orthotics at $604.62.
SA: ReturnToWorkSA has published its 2026 to 2027 fee schedules, effective 1 July 2026. Physiotherapy and exercise physiology schedules are available; podiatry does not have a dedicated schedule and should be confirmed case by case with the claims manager.
WA: WorkCover WA fees carry a 3.96% increase that applied from 1 November 2025. No newer June 2026 allied health change found.
TAS, ACT, NT: No prescribed allied health fee schedule change. ACT and Tasmania do not prescribe fees for health providers; cover is arranged through private insurers.
