Where every schedule sits right now
DVA
In force: schedules effective 1 July 2026, across 21 disciplines. Checked: 12 October 2026.
The fee schedules page carries a notice saying its documents are being updated. Nothing has actually changed — keep billing the 1 July 2026 figures.
The 2027 package has changed. The proposed $5,000 threshold has been dropped. DVA confirmed to providers on 21 September that veterans continue under current arrangements, which means the treatment cycle stays for now: a referral covers up to 12 sessions or a year, whichever ends first. TPI Gold Card holders remain exempt from the cycle for physiotherapy and exercise physiology only. The 2027 fee increase is still going ahead, and item-level rates have not been published.
The claim window halves from 1 July 2027. You will have one year from the date of service to lodge a DVA claim, down from two. Lodge any unclaimed services from before 1 July 2026 before that date.
Veterans can check claims against their card. DVA has pointed veterans to the Medicare claim history in their myGov account, which lists services billed against their Veteran Card.
Medicare / MBS
In force: 1 July 2026 indexation. Schedule fee $74.55, benefit $63.40 for the standard chronic condition management items. Checked: 12 October 2026.
Applies to podiatry 10962, physiotherapy 10960, exercise physiology 10953 and chiropractic 10964. No change since July. From 1 November, four new GP items (92033, 92034, 92063 and 92064) allow chronic condition management plans to be prepared or reviewed by phone.
NDIS
In force: statutory price limits under the Minister's pricing determination, with a new NDIS Pricing Schedule effective 24 September 2026. Podiatry $188.99/hr, physiotherapy $183.99/hr, exercise physiology $161.99/hr. Checked: 12 October 2026.
The dollar figures match the NDIA guidance published in July. What changed on 24 September is that they became legally binding, for NDIA-managed and plan-managed participants. Self-managed participants are not bound by them.
Late claims get held from 15 October. Claims submitted more than 90 days after a support was delivered may be held for up to 28 days for extra checks. Separately, support budgets in Improved Daily Living Skills and in Social, Economic and Community Participation are being reduced as plans are created or reassessed from 1 October 2026, and as they're renewed from 1 February 2027.
WorkCover and state schemes
In force: varies by jurisdiction. QLD and SA changed 1 July 2026. Victoria reissued its physiotherapy and EIPF schedules effective 1 October 2026 with the main rates unchanged. NSW fees commenced 1 February 2026. WA applies 3.96% from 1 November 2025 until 31 October. TAS, ACT and NT prescribe nothing. Checked: 20 October 2026.
WA fees rise 3.90% from 1 November. The 2026 Health Services Fees Order was gazetted on 16 October. Physio PA001 goes to $125.20 and PB001 to $101.45. Exercise physiology hourly rates stay at $221.50. A new Treatment Management Plan applies to all approved allied health providers from 1 November, with new plan items for exercise programs, chiropractic and others.
NSW approval rules changed 1 October. SIRA-approved physios, chiros, osteos and accredited EPs now get 4 consultations without insurer pre-approval, down from 8, and the treatment test is now "reasonable and necessary".
Podiatry has no schedule in NSW, SA or WA. In NSW, all podiatry treatment needs insurer pre-approval.
Award wages for employed clinicians
In force: the Health Professionals and Support Services Award's new classification structure, from the first full pay period on or after 1 October 2026. Checked: 26 October 2026.
Clinician minimums now depend on the profession's qualification level, years in the profession and duties. A first-year podiatrist, physio or EP is on at least $1,308.80 a week, and a 7th-year+ on $1,689.50. Further increases are scheduled on 30 June each year from 2027 to 2030.
Dates worth diarising
1 November 2026 — WA's 2026 fees order and new Treatment Management Plan start. New MBS items let GPs prepare or review chronic condition management plans by phone.
1 December 2026 — SCHADS award changes take effect. The NDIS Pricing Schedule is to be updated later this year to reflect them.
1 January 2027 — Recommended start for NDIS differentiated pricing, which would set different prices for registered and unregistered providers. Currently under consultation.
1 February 2027 — NDIS budget reductions start applying to renewed plans, as well as new and reassessed ones.
1 July 2027 — DVA's allied health fee increase is due, and the DVA claim window drops from two years to one. Lodge unclaimed pre-July 2026 services before this date.
1 November 2027 — WorkSafe Victoria's extended Early Intervention Physiotherapy Framework registrations expire.
What changed recently
26 October 2026. Added award wages. The Health Professionals and Support Services Award introduced a new health professional classification structure from 1 October 2026, with further increases on 30 June each year from 2027 to 2030. WA's fees order and Treatment Management Plan start on 1 November. NDIS annual pricing review submissions for 2027–28 close on 1 November.
20 October 2026. WorkCover WA published its 2026 Health Services Fees Order on 16 October, a 3.90% increase from 1 November. Physiotherapy items rose by that amount; exercise program hourly rates stayed at $221.50. The Order adds Treatment Management Plan items for exercise programs (EPE10, EXE10), chiropractic (CHR08) and other disciplines, and WorkCover WA's new TMP applies to all approved allied health providers from 1 November. Podiatry is still not covered by the Order. The NDIS checks on claims more than 90 days old started on 15 October.
12 October 2026. NSW SIRA reforms commenced 1 October: pre-approval-free consultations for SIRA-approved physical and psychological practitioners cut from 8 to 4, and the treatment test changed to "reasonable and necessary". SIRA's fees page states all treatment requires insurer pre-approval unless exempt, and podiatry is not exempt. WorkSafe Victoria reissued physiotherapy and EIPF schedules from 1 October with core rates unchanged, and extended EIPF registrations to 1 November 2027; this page previously listed 1 November 2026. NDIS announced extra checks on claims more than 90 days old from 15 October, and support-budget reductions from 1 October. The November MBS release adds GP phone items for chronic condition management plans, with no allied health changes. DVA pointed veterans to Medicare claim history in myGov.
29 September 2026. DVA announced that from 1 July 2027 the time to submit a claim drops from two years to one year from the date of service, aligning with Medicare bulk billing. Claims older than a year will go through the late lodgement process.
28 September 2026. DVA confirmed to providers on 21 September that the $5,000 threshold will not proceed and that veterans continue under current arrangements, which settles the treatment cycle question: it stays. On 24 September the Minister for Disability and the NDIS made the first statutory NDIS pricing determination, with a new Pricing Schedule effective that day. The dollar figures for podiatry, physiotherapy and exercise physiology did not change. Correction: this page previously described the 2026-27 NDIS figures as guidance rather than price limits, which was accurate until 24 September.
19 September 2026. The Government has dropped the proposed DVA $5,000 threshold, announced by the Minister for Veterans' Affairs on 17 September after four months of opposition from the Coalition, Greens, crossbench and veteran advocacy groups. The fee increase is explicitly preserved. The removal of the 12-session treatment cycle is not — the threshold was its replacement, and nothing has been said about what happens now. DVA has taken down its page describing the changes, so the 30 October consultation deadline no longer stands in any published form.
15 September 2026. Full verification pass across all payers. Three corrections to this page: NDIS figures are guidance under the new Pricing Schedule rather than price limits under the old PAPL; an outdated NDIS plan-indexation reference dating from 2024 has been removed; and the NSW podiatry position has been corrected, since SIRA publishes no podiatry order and takes no published position on it. The Queensland fees URL now redirects to workcoverqld.com.au.
7 September 2026. DVA published the detail of its 2027 allied health changes and opened consultation. The $5,000 figure is a review threshold, not the monetary limit earlier wording described, and the TPI, Special Rate Disability Pension and catastrophically injured exemptions were named for the first time.
2 September 2026. DVA's fee schedules page began carrying a notice that its documents are being updated.
1 July 2026. Medicare indexed 2.6%, taking the standard allied health benefit from $61.80 to $63.40. DVA, NDIS, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia all changed schedules the same day.
1 February 2026. SIRA's NSW fees orders commenced, indexed up to 4.57%.
1 November 2025. WorkCover WA applied a 3.96% increase.
